Atlanta, GA – Environment Georgia announced today the endorsement of Reps. Rick Allen, Angelika Kauche, Beth Moore, Bob Trammell and Mary Frances Williams.

“These legislators have a strong track record of fighting for clean air and water for Georgians,” said Jennette Gayer, Executive Director of Environment Georgia. “They all hold key seats in the Georgia House of Representatives and we need them to continue to help us fight for the spaces that make Georgia so special.”

All the legislators scored above 95% on the Environmental Scorecard released by Environment Georgia and Georgia Conservation Voters after the conclusion of the 2020-2021 legislative session and showed leadership on key pieces of environmental legislation. Specifically:

  • Minority Leader Bob Trammell, Rep. Rick Allen, and Rep. Mary Frances Williams sponsored HB 756 legislation that would require liners of toxic coal ash storage facilities that would help stop coal ash toxins from leaking into Georgia’s rivers and well water.

  • Rep. Beth Moore helped to rally opposition to SB 43, a bill to make runaway nuclear plant construction financing easier for Dalton Utilities.

  • Rep. Angelika Kauche (HD 50) sponsored HB 711 to end Georgia’s reliance on dirty coal power.

“We urge Georgians to support these environmental champs in their critical races and look forward to working with them in the next legislation,” said Gayer.
